Happy Mew Year 2025
It's nearly 2025 so I thought I would write a quick blog about plans for next year.
Thank you very much for asking me to look after your cats, small furry animals, chickens, a few reptiles and even a stick insect!
This year has been amazing meeting and falling in love with lots of pets.
Christmas 2024 Plans
Cat sitting requirements can't be predicted. It turns out this Christmas a lot of cat owners are going away. I'm very pleased to have bookings to see lots of my regular cats, plus a couple of new ones.
I'm pleased to say I haven't got many visits on Christmas day. Yay! My family is happy about this as one year we had Christmas day on the 24th to fit in visits and seeing family. Christmas dinner is my favourite meal so I'm hoping we can have it a few times.
One of the highlights of Christmas, is seeing our pets have fun with the decorations and wrapping. Although I've had to hide the presents really well. Not because the children will find them, but because Bean breaks into yummy smelling things. No food is safe! So far he has unwrapped some dog treats and bitten through the plastic to get to them.
Goals for 2025
Next year I want to be more organised and spend less time on the computer. I get distracted very easily - so many cat videos to see on the internet. Even writing this blog has taken about five times longer than it should have.
I've recently been quoted in the Guardian. Helping pet owners is important to me as well as raising the issue of animal welfare, particularly enrichment. I have had lots of ideas for blogs but not been disciplined to sit down to complete them.
Things have been busy recently with house sitting but I would love to go back to helping at Nanny Sharon's Alpaca Farm. Poop scooping for alpacs is very relaxing - the goats 'helping' always makes me giggle.
Changes to Wirral Whiskers
Booking in Advance
Advance booking is recommended for cat visits as if I'm away house sitting, I only have a limited capacity. During the summer months, payment will be required for confirmed booking. This is due to last minute cancellations and ghosting this year.
Also, small animal boarding is limited due to house sitting bookings. This is really sad as both my daughter and I love having extra little furries around.
Cancellations
Please let me know as soon as possible if you need to cancel. Things happen and can't be helped but it really helps if I could have at least a weeks notice. Please note my cancellation policy. This year I shall have to enforce it as cancelling when I'm already on the way to the visit isn't ideal.
