September 2025 Wirral Whiskers Update

A little update about what I've been up to over the summer holidays. Also, this blog contains information about October and November cat sitting visit availability.

Personal Summer Update

Water bowl for cat painted as a pond

This summer has been a strange one. It started earlier than usual with both of my kiddies finishing school/college early after their GCSE’s/A Levels. It felt like it had been a long summer waiting for the results. I'm pleased to say that they both got the results they wanted to move to the next stage.

It will be a bit of a change for us when our son moves away to university this week. At the moment we have been focussing on what he needs to take with him but it will be very strange without him. My daughter and I would like to use his room for pets but my husband would not be very impressed. Who knows what will happen??? Watch this space! (Not you Ben, don’t watch this space.) Also, hoping that Ben won't watch us if we come back with any boxes and disappear upstairs. Can you tell this has happened before?

On the other hand, the summer has gone quickly with work and fun things with the family. There have been a few outings for coffee and cake as usual. One of our favourite things to do has been going to Birkenhead Park to see the squirrels. Although I think the squirrels are well fed so we don’t always see them.

We’ve also enjoyed going pottery painting. The photo is of the water bowl I painted for our cats. We are still waiting for some of our items to be fired and ready. It will be six weeks waiting for my first mug! Really excited to see how it turns out. Obviously I painted our cats on it. I also painted a plate which was circus themed. Ben came with us once and ended up painting a house night light holder which is a house for our multi mammate mice family. This made us laugh as he once said we had a housing crisis with the rodents. At least he is helping the mice have a home.

The rest of my family went away camping. Someone had to stay at home to look after the pets – which was me. Plus I’m not keen on camping. The rest of their holiday sounded good.

My husband and I had an amazing experience trying the flying trapeze. It's been on my bucket list to try so I was excited to find Big Bunny Flying Trapeze had come to Thurstaston for the summer. Unfortunately it turns out I really don't like heights so only had two short, goes. Looking at the video, I was surprised I climbed that high on a ladder. Ben really enjoyed it and did it well - he even let go to fly through the air to be caught by Danny.

Most importantly, we’ve had time to spend with our own pets. They have enjoyed more people being around to keep them entertained. Bean especially! When it was just me on my own, he meowed for me to play with him as well as food.

Wirral Whiskers Update

We’ve had a few small animals stay for holidays – mice, guinea pigs and rabbits. This has meant the house has been upside down so the little furries are away from our pets. Also, turns out I use the outside rabbit accommodation for storing lots of pet items. Handy to do a stock check on what I have. I don’t think I’ll need to buy any paper bedding for a while.

I’ve managed to have a couple of quieter work days and had taken the opportunity to get the cam belt changed on my car. I wanted to make sure she is running in tip top condition. I also spent some time tidying up my cat toys and the bags that I take on visits. Hopefully activity toys will be easier to find and access now. The tidy bug spread and I did the rest of the house while the family were away on holiday.

My next couple of weeks are really busy with cat visits. I’m looking forward to cats I haven’t seen for a while as well as some regulars.

I'm a bit delayed with updating my website - especially with new pets. Also, my social media has taken a back seat. Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.

October Bookings

October is busy, especially half term. I am now fully booked from 24th October until the 2nd November. Other dates in October and November have limited availability.
