Looking Ahead to 2026 for Wirral Whiskers Cat Sitting
Another 'end of the year' blog post! This one has my holiday dates for next year. Also important reminder for Christmas cat dangers. Our cat Bean is always willing to test out new Christmas products.
Looking Ahead to 2026 for Wirral Whiskers Cat Sitting
As we are heading towards December, I’ve been thinking and making plans for 2026. First of all, I have been so grateful for all the pet owners that have asked me to care for their cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, gerbils, a bearded dragon and any local wildlife.
This year has had a few changes in my personal life. The biggest, recent change is that our son moved out to go to university. Still seems weird without him here
Recently I’ve been away for a few weeks house sitting so it’s been nice to get back to my own bed. When I’m away, I really miss the family but at least I can talk to them on the phone. What is so nice is watching my mice and hearing their little noises in the evening. As well as watching my daughters African pygmy frogs in the corner of the room.
My Time Off

At the moment I still have some availability for Christmas and New Year. Next year, I’m going to have some time off.
I tried to plan some breaks this year but life happened and my holiday didn’t. I’ve learnt to check my diary before saying yes now. As I've become busier, there isn't any natural days off between visits that happened previously. Anyway these are the dates that I’m planning to have without work. (Already I know I am working on the first day of my holiday in January...)
This picture will be posted regularly on my WhatsApp story and other social media as a reminder. (Reminder to myself as well!)
Prepare for Christmas 2025 with your Pets

I know it seems a way off, but don’t forget to plan for Christmas with your pets. Make sure you have enough pet supplies in. Bank holidays and festive close downs can delay deliveries to shops as well as homes. As I’m usually busy working over Christmas, I make sure I have everything done in advance. I don’t always have the time to think, let alone go out shopping. Also, I’d have to be really want to go to Bromborough Croft to fight with the parking.
With different food, plants and decorations around, please be aware that your cat may try to eat things that are poisonous. Some cats will be more interested than others. Our cat Bean loves this time of year with new things to investigate. He loves it every time we come in the house with bags as he loves to see what there is, in case there is something for him to eat.
What’s New for next year
As I’ve got busier, my visit slots have become fully booked and I’ve had to say no to clients as I hate not being able to help people. This means that I’m not able to take on new clients for cat visits or house sitting.
I’m always on the look out for new activities for cats and finding new ways to provide enrichment. Last year, the paper feathers I made were a hit for most of the cats. Over my time off in January, I would like to sew some mice toys.
We are planning on moving house at some point and I would very much like to have a dedicated animal room. At the moment, we have to rearrange our back living room when guests come to stay. It would be great to be able to leave up the guinea pig pens and have all the supplies close to hand. Also I would very much like a type of animal where the enclosure isn't suitable for cats nearby as they may swipe tails through the bars.
